Welcome to GE Free Northland, a grassroots organization dedicated to raising awareness about the risks of Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) and Genetic Engineering (GE) technologies, and advocating for a safer, more sustainable future for all. Since 2003, we have been working tirelessly in Northland, New Zealand, to promote environmental protection, food safety, and community health.

Why We Fight

GMOs and GE technologies are experimental and unproven. Despite claims of benefits like increased crop yields or pest resistance, there is growing evidence that these technologies can have unintended consequences on our environment, biodiversity, and human health. Pesticide-resistant GMO crops contribute to the rise of "superweeds" and harm pollinators like bees. Genetically engineered organisms can cross-pollinate with native species, threatening the genetic diversity of our ecosystems. Furthermore, long-term studies on the safety of GMOs for human consumption are lacking, yet these products are being widely distributed without adequate testing or labeling.

Our Approach

We believe that education is key to creating change.
