CALL TO ACTION- Opportunity to stop an application for 4,000 GE pine trees in NZ

 

Scion (formerly “Forest Research”), a NZ Crown Research Institute, has lodged an application for GE pine trees

 

Please help us stop the use of GE trees in NZ, and protect Northland’s existing GE free status (although the proposed field trial is in the Rotorua area, this will set a dangerous precedent and pine pollen travels huge distances even at moderate wind speeds

 

Deadline for submissions: 6 October 2010

 

Submission on Application ERMA200479:  To field test in containment Pinus radiata with genetic modifications to alter plant growth/biomass acquisition, reproductive development, herbicide tolerance, biomass utilisation, wood density and wood dimensional stability.
